Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev traces its origins to the opening in the city of Frunze of the Women’s Pedagogical College, established in accordance with Resolution No. 825 of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Kyrgyz SSR No. 825 of 15 December 1944 and Order No. 11 of the People’s Commissariat of Education of the Kyrgyz SSR of 19 January 1945. In 2025, the institution celebrated its 80th anniversary and today occupies a leading position among the country’s universities.
The university’s primary objective is to provide high-quality education in accordance with modern standards. It comprises 13 institutes, 5 faculties and a college; the student body numbers around 20,000. The educational process is delivered by around 1,000 highly qualified lecturers, including 57 doctors of science and 300 candidates of science.
The university’s achievements have been recognised with national and international awards, notably the “Dank” Order (2022) and the European Society for Quality Research’s “Quality Choice Award”.
International recognition and development of the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabaev
The university demonstrates a high level of integration into the global educational and scientific community. In particular, it ranks second among higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan in the GreenMetric global sustainability ranking.

Seminar on scientometrics by the Scientific Publications
A seminar on scientometrics, organised by the Scientific Publications, was held at the I. Arabayev Kyrgyz State University.
The event addressed the topic “Features of publications in the Scopus and Web of Science databases in 2026: new trends”. The company’s CEO, Denis Pilipenko, joined the discussion. Particular emphasis was placed on practical aspects of maintaining research profiles and managing publications across various indexing systems, which are a key means of enhancing the visibility of research outcomes. The recommendations provided will facilitate the higher-quality preparation and successful publication of research papers in accordance with current international requirements.
