The National H-index Ranking takes into account data from leading scientometric databases, including Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar, which ensures objectivity and breadth of coverage. The updated version of the ranking for Q2 2025 was recently released. In today's article, we will take a closer look at which Kyrgyz universities are among the TOP 10 according to the National H-index Ranking, as well as analyse the dynamics of their scientific indicators compared to the previous period.
Twice a year, the National H-index Ranking updates the data and generates a ranking based on the Hirsch index from such sources as Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar. In our previous article, we looked at the leaders in terms of scientific potential in Kyrgyzstan – the list included not only universities, but also research institutions, organisations, etc.

A total of 45 educational institutions were evaluated for the ranking.
Despite the fact that these educational institutions are among the TOP 10 in the country, all of them show a deterioration in their own performance compared to the results for the 4th quarter of 2024. In particular, the national Hirsch Index scores decreased as follows:
- Kyrgyz State Medical Academy: -23
- Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University: -10
- University of Central Asia: -7
- Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn: -5
- American University of Central Asia: -9
- Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University: -8
- Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K. I. Skryabin: -4
- Osh State University, Ala-Too International University, International Higher School of Medicine: -2
Raising the Hirsch Index is of key importance for scientists, as it strengthens their positions in global rankings. The systematic publication of research results in international scientometric databases such as Scopus, Web of Science or Google Scholar has a positive impact not only on the image of higher education institutions and research institutions, but also on the development of the country's scientific potential in general.
