Osh State Pedagogical University, which has become the leading institution for training highly qualified teaching staff for secondary schools in Kyrgyzstan, was founded in 1925 as the first pedagogical school in the south of the country. In 1994, the Osh Pedagogical College with new specialities was established on the basis of the Osh Pedagogical School. In 1996 it was reorganised into Osh Higher College, and in 2002 it received the status of “Osh Humanitarian and Pedagogical Institute”. On 5 April 2021, according to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, the institute was granted the status of Osh State Pedagogical University.
