In June 2025, Scopus updated the list of scientific journals that lost their indexing. To find out which publications are included in this list, we recommend that you review the information prepared by Scientific Publications company.
Reasons for exclusion from Scopus
Inclusion of a journal in the Scopus database is a complex and lengthy process that requires strict compliance with established standards. Scopus conducts a monthly analysis of indexed publications, assessing their compliance with the requirements.
There are several main reasons why a journal may be excluded from the database, in particular:
- Unfair practices: the publication is involved in illegal activities, such as offering expedited publication for a fee or misrepresenting itself as an authoritative journal, misleading the scientific community.
- Violation of ethical standards: failure to comply with the principles of academic integrity and scientific ethics.
- Low quality of publications: publication of low-quality articles that do not meet scientific standards.
- Outdated content: publication of materials that have lost their scientific significance.
- Suspicious changes in indicators: sharp jumps in scientometric metrics that raise doubts.
- Deviation from the subject area: a change in scientific direction that does not correspond to the stated field of the journal.

How are journals monitored in Scopus?
Scopus uses a comprehensive method to analyse journals, using the Radar tool developed by Elsevier. This system monitors changes in scientometric metrics and identifies any violations. Journals may be excluded from the database for the following reasons:
- artificial inflation of the number of citations
- publication of works without quality review by referees
- significant deviation from the originally stated scientific subject area
- lack of a rigorous review system
- violation of publication ethics principles
- low quality or insufficient number of articles
In addition, exclusion may be caused by so-called “Publication Concerns” – problems related to the journal's activities that undermine its reputation. This includes unfair practices, data falsification, or the publication of materials that do not meet scientific requirements.
